SHOULD THERE BE AN 5TH SEASON OF EVERWOOD, VIVIENE CARDONE IS ONBOARD!

Hey guys!

I while back I visited Vivene Cardone's Website and filmed out the form to contact her. Well, today I checked my e-mail and got a reply from what I think is her mother (Lisa Cardone). Since then, a lot has happened so I replied to her e-mail with the updated news and all about the ferris wheel. Below is my original e-mail, her reply, and my new e-mail! Thought you guys might like to read something that was not an automated response for once! Bottom line is, she said she would forward my e-mail to the rest of the cast! Have fun reading below!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't even explain how much I have loved Everwood since the very first episode! When I heard it was being cancelled I literally, cried! But since then a whole bunch of us Everwood fans have been working away tirelessly to get Everwood back, because shows like this, well there arent ever any shows like Everwood! We have been bombarding Dawn with pinecones (& the best part is she contacted the ppl we are gettig the pinecones from, a girl scout troop where 100% of the money goes to girl scouts! and she wanted to know "what in the world we were doing" figures she wouldnt know that the Pinecone is the paper of Everwood!) We've been shooting out e-mails to radio stations, news papers, E! onlines Kristin, Tv Guide, and many other websites, voting on www.teavee.com for Everwood & got it from #40 to #7 in one week, voting every 5 minutes! There's an Entertainment Weekly poll of which show we want back and EVerwood is in the lead with 44%! We are sending letters to Dawn and I even made postcards with graphics from the Save Everwood site! We are all also including sheet music because of Ephram playing the piano and asking that it be donated to somewhere that needs music in the Utah area. We are additionally looking into getting a singing telegram over to Dawn! Veronica Mars saved their series buy flying a plane over CW and ROswell saved their series 2x by sending Tabasco sauce bottles. So hey, anything can happen! Also, tomorrow everyone is planning on buying the EVverwood DVD/EVerwood Soundtrack in order to make a statement! On amazon its moved from the 3 or 4 thousands in DVD's to like #150! If you have a chance, plesae visit www.everwoodonline.com or www.save-everwood.org! See what us fans are saying! As you probobly know, all the critics and media are fully against the decision to cancel Everwood. Here is one particular article that just says it all, published today http://www.suntimes.com/output/televisi ... -tv04.html

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know, that us fans are NOT going down without a fight to Save Everwood! Please drop me back an e-mail! Also if you could offer any advice or contact information that would be great! THanks for being part of such an incredibly amazing show!

-Sincerely, Samantha.

p.s. Do you have e-mails for any of the other cast members? we found your site but we couldnt locate an officail site for anyone else? thanks again!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is Lisa Cardone.

Thank you for the info and the effort you are putting in on behalf of Everwood. I'm sorry it took so long for us to respond, but Vivien filmed a movie and Missour and we haven't checked mail since the beginning of June.

Anyway, I will forward the email to the other cast members for you.

Hope things work out. Vivien would love for the show to continue!

Angeblich hatte Dawn Ostroff keine Ahnung von der ganzen Ferris Wheel Aktion. Ausiello hat es ihr dann erzaehlt. HIer ein kurzer Auszug aus Ask Ausiello.
9:22 am: Dawn Ostroff is in the house. Gimme that microphone!

9:23 am: Ostroff is making some opening remarks about CW's strategy. Zzzz... wake me when the Q&A starts.

9:26 am: Scoop! Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars premiere on Sept. 26 and Oct. 3, respectively.

9:31 am: The Q&A begins!

9:32 am: I ask my first question: "Dawn, were you surprised by the size and scope of the media and fan backlash to the Everwood cancellation? And are you aware of the Ferris Wheel campaign, and, if so, do you plan to attend?"

9:33 am: She claims the decision to cancel Everwood was an "agonizing" one. "The fans were so devoted and, internally, there were so many people who loved the show. But we got into the scheduling room and... we wanted to give Runaway the best lead-in we possibly could. And when you look at 7th Heaven, it was the highest-rated show among total viewers between both UPN and the WB. Everwood skewed much older; it was the oldest show at either UPN or the WB. It would never have been able to really anchor a night."

9:34 am: She has no idea about the Ferris Wheel campaign, so I explain it to her. She says impassioned fan responses like that is "why we brought 7th Heaven back. Fans are so devoted and so loyal." Did you see what just happened there? She used the the Everwood Ferris Wheel campaign to justify renewing 7th Heaven! That takes cajones.

K: I am such a huge fan of Everwood. I was so upset about the show not coming back.

R: I'm heartbroken. I really am. We just didn’t know, and towards the end, it was just, we were really hoping… Look, I’m wearing the Amy/Ephram necklace (points to the necklace she’s wearing)...

K: That is so cool. You’re a fan like we are! You know, we’re still getting emails about the show.

R: Really?! I love that. I love everyone [who’s involved] in the Ferris Wheel campaign! We are so gratified by all of that. I think it’s more than Greg [Berlanti] and I ever could’ve imagined. Ever. On the night that the finale aired, I called him hysterically crying, as if I didn’t know what was happening! I was just bawling and he was crying. We were like [crying] ‘It’s like My So-Called Life. It’s like all of our favorite shows that we always talk about that didn’t get enough time!’ and frankly, the fact that the fans still cared as much as they did gave us that feeling that it was all worth it, that we all worked really, really hard for good reason.

K: It was a really good finale. We were all hysterically crying.

R: But everyone was really pissed about no narration.

K: Really?!

R: I was shocked. He died. How could I--?

K: I mean I guess you could do the whole Mary Alice thing from beyond the grave, but I thought the finale was perfect as is.

R: I couldn’t figure it out. That was the one thing. I could sense there was a lot of anger about the narration and I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want to write back and be like ‘But he’s dead. How can I fix that now?!’ But yeah, I was really happy with it, and the cast could not have been better. Honestly, best experience of my life. I can’t wait to work with Greg again.

K: So I hear that the plan, if you guys were picked up for a fifth season, was for him to come back?

R: Yes, the plan was for him to return and sort of spearhead a fifth season. I’ve always known I was coming [back to L.A.] to develop. I had spent the full four years completely with Everwood, so I was always planning on taking some time. But Greg and I were planning to write some scripts together. We were talking about which episodes we wanted to do together, so we were kind of excited about that. But we’ll do it again, in a new incarnation. Greg is working on a lot of new stuff already. And I’m trying to.

K: Stuff other than Gilmore Girls? You have time?

R: No! No, I do not. He’s a work horse, this David Rosenthal. But I’m trying. I’m really trying to do something Everwood-like, Everwood-esque.

K: That’s what I like to hear. There are no good, straight family dramas anymore.

R: I know. I know. And to get someone like Gregory Smith. I mean, Gregory, I told him I’m not letting him go. And I’m telling him about the Ferris Wheel. I know he’s trying to come back. I don’t know if he can, because he’s in Utah right now. Actually, this is what I love about Gregory. He’s producing a movie right now, and he took the entire crew of Everwood an employed them on his movie, because he is Ephram.

K: He’s Ephram!

R: He’s totally Ephram. And you can’t say that about a lot of people. He’s just [so great]. That’s why I wear his necklace.

K: You pretend to be Amy?

R: I know! And that was my other thing. I was bitter that everyone thought I was Hannah. Not that I don’t love Hannah, but hello?! I was always Amy. Greg called me Amy in the beginning. Omigod. It was kind of pathetic actually. I don’t know that anyone will ever say that I’m Lorelai, but I was definitely Amy. I am very Amy Abbott.

K: I love it. And I love that you’re going to the Ferris Wheel thing.

R: Omigod. I’m so there. Are you kidding? The second I heard, I called Greg and was like ‘Are you going?!’ He was like ‘I’m there,’ so we’re trying to coordinate it together.

K: Did you hear that someone brought it up during the panel session this morning with Dawn Ostroff?

R: Did they really? I didn’t hear that. What did she say? I haven’t even met her yet. So it’s so hard. I mean, I’m very excited and I’m excited about the new network, but I think it’s going to be traumatic for us to meet for like a quick second! We’re going to have to get over the awkwardness! It’s going to be like a bad blind date where she doesn’t know I slept with her brother or something. But you know what, I applaud the network and I think they are [doing what they have to do]. It’s hard. I’m sure it was a difficult choice. In the scheme of things, I’m sure ABC still looks back on My So-Called Life and says ‘How did that happen?’ And to this day, Winnie Holzman shakes her fist, as she creates the score of Wicked and goes on to do other tremendous, tremendous things. You know, you never know. But ultimately, I feel like Everwood got an amazing run and by being under the radar, we really did get to tell the most fantastic stories, which I don’t think we would’ve been able to do otherwise. And it would’ve been hard dealing with new management. Even with The WB, in the last year they were trying so hard to change, we were struggling harder than we had in our first season. So I think it all worked out well, and I think we got to sort of say our proper goodbye before we had to do anything we maybe wouldn’t have wanted to.

K: I know Greg was saying that it really would’ve been a different show, because Andy and Nina would’ve gotten married…

R: Yeah. We had a lot of that stuff really planned out. Ironically, we had not anticipated What About Brian being picked up, and we really had Madison figured into our story in a fairly significant way, so when I heard that was coming back, I had this flush of panic like ‘Omigod, what do we do?!’ So I kind of felt like it worked out in a weird way, and funnily enough, Josh Reims, who was going to be taking over Everwood and sort of running it with Greg, wound up running What About Brian, so he still gets to work with Madison! But Greg, is just the most amazing writer, and I can’t wait to work with him again.

K: You have to, and with Gregory Smith!

R: Ugh! I know! I wish he was here. Honestly, I’ve never loved an actor more. He’s the best. He’s so totally Ephram. And everyone was really hard on his haircut. You know, Utah does things to your hair. OK, it’s very dry out there!

K: I love it! I love Gregory and his hair. Let’s talk about Gilmore for a sec. I’m sure you’re excited about it.

R: Honestly, I’m totally unnecessary. [David Rosenthal]’s got it all covered. I don’t need to be there frankly! It’s off and running. I had not really known the show before. But I got really excited as I was watching it -- I watched like 50 hours of Gilmore on DVD. That’s a lot of fast talking -- and the stories that they want to tell this year I am happy about. It seems a little more provocative and thought provoking, and really fun and funny. It’s the most amazing group of writers, I have to say. We start shooting on Thursday. It’s crazy. I haven’t even met [most of the actors]. I just met Kirk. I’m very excited. Frankly, the Tai Chi moment is my favorite moment on the show, so yeah, I’m looking forward to it.

Let's talk about the show in terms of the actual cancellation. How much of the storyline did you change when you found out that it was going to be gone?

The last two years, there was a lot more combativeness than there was initially about the show, so we learned to not trust what was being said. The cliffhangers that we ultimately didn't use were more setups for next year than they were payoffs for this year. We really constructed an end that we wouldn't have to change, and that was mostly because I drew the line in the sand -- we weren't going to go out with a cliffhanger, and then the show gets cancelled, and the fans, who have been the only thing keeping this show going all these years, get screwed the most. So I was sort of the wall, if you will, but Rina was really the inspiration for the whole finale. And I think she did a masterful job, with the writers, of making sure to hit as many of the beats as possible.

So you were happy with everybody's story?

I was. I really was. And you know, you always think, there's more to tell...and we definitely had some fun stuff planned for next year.

Well, tell me about it!

[laughs] Okay. Nina was going to be pregnant with Jake's baby.

OH MY GOD.

Yeah, that was going to be the big, explosive, kind of "Oh, TYPICAL Everwood" thing. And we were flirting with the idea of trying to bring Ephram and Hannah closer together, to see if we could play with that a little bit.

So you are not angry at Dawn Ostroff?

I am not. I had lunch with Dawn, we had a great lunch, and I'm a fan of hers. I think she's tried to put on good TV, and she's not the only one making the decision to bring Everwood back or not.

So she's just the name that people use for blaming?

I guess, and that's fine that they're picking [on] her -- I kind of wish they wouldn't do that, but what I do love about the response is that it's sustained, and it's helped put the show onto the cult shelf, which is a great place for a show to be. But it's done. So to sit around and be upset with people about why it's done or how it's done is not as much fun as reminiscing about what was great about it.

Right. You've moved on. But I know you were mad at first.

I was much more upset by the way that Everwood was handled in the last year. When Everwood was moved to Thursday nights and then it was moved back to Monday...if people want to be mad, be mad at the executives that made those decisions, which I think were just asinine. They want to be upset and make t-shirts -- find those executives and put them on the shirts

TO ALL EVERWOOD FANS:

Hi everyone! I wish I could have been there, but I'm in New York right now. I just want to thank you all for watching our show for the past four years. I wish it could go on for another four!

Maybe, if God wants, some other network will see how much you all want us back and decide to take us for another "ride on the Ferris Wheel"!

Even so, I had the greatest time working on Everwood, with the crew, the cast, my King Mickey Liddell, and the greatest writer ever, Greg Berlanti.

I love you all and hope you think of me when you're all the way on the top of the Ferris Wheel, cause that's how working on Everwood made me feel. So high like I could touch the stars.

You've been great fans, and maybe, just maybe, we'll be back all because of you!

LOVE
